Nika Machaidze a.k.a. Nikakoi is a Georgian filmmaker, composer, and electronic music producer. Also known as Erast, Nikakoi is considered to be the pioneer of Georgian electronic music, who is not only responsible for some of the most iconic tracks produced on the local scene, but has played an incremental role in the shaping of the country’s music industry as a whole.

Having started making electronic music in the mid-nineties, to this day Machaidze has amassed an impressive discography of works, characterized by a uniquely organic symbiosis of digital noises, broken IDM rhythms, melancholic melodies, and captivating vocals (often provided by none other than Tusia Beridze, who happens to be Nika’s life-long muse and wife). And, as if all this wasn’t enough to cement Nikakoi’s artistic legacy, it’s important to note that his son - Max Machaidze is a key figure on the modern music scene that continues the work his father began decades ago, making sure that the Machaidze family name is firmly ingrained into the history of Georgian music.
