Natia Gvazava
Speaker
Natia Gvazava - known also as Natiatalks - is a former refugee from Sokhumi, Georgia, who grew up in a diplomat family in NYC, thus experiencing both ends of the humanitarian crises from a young age. Living through these very distinct realities has shaped the way she understood and connected to people, in turn resulting in a great desire to tell stories.
Following this instinct, Natia has returned to Georgia to help cover the movement on the ground, as a result producing two seasons of the documentary series “Pesvebi” that showcases the fight for freedom and justice. In addition to this, she began conducting street interviews with everyday people across Georgia - to break stereotypes, talk openly about mental health, and encourage kindness and understanding by reminding us that, at our core, we are all the same.
For Natia, the work of a documentarian is a way of navigating one’s own questions of identity, while igniting change by expanding minds, and bridging gaps between cultural and other misunderstandings.
