Speaker
Mikheil Tsikhelashvili (b. 1992) is a Georgian writer and translator, founder and editor-in-chief of the publishing house Matarebeli Comics. His main field of interest is the intersection of different art forms and genres. Alongside his university studies (BA in Art History and MA in Cultural Management), he began working in the publishing industry, where he oversaw the publication of literature across various genres, with a particular focus on graphic novels: works by Marjane Satrapi, Art Spiegelman, Alan Moore, and Frank Miller, the graphic novel The Knight in the Panther’s Skin, as well as other local projects.
In 2025, after years of reflection and planning, he founded Matarebeli Comics, a publishing house dedicated to both fictional and documentary comic literature. The goal of the publishing house is to make world-renowned graphic literature available in the Georgian language, while also fostering the creation of local comics—thereby enriching readers’ understanding and appreciation of this literary form.
