Giorgi Avaliani, Creative Director, Leavingstone, Georgia

Boring saves lives, boring creates jobs, and boring sells. Apart from being very practical, comforting and relatable, boring means a certain level of ubiquitous success most brands can only dream of. When boring is the new normal, how come we are all trying to stand out and think different?

Dissecting the magic of cult movies, a few uninteresting inventions, and bits of social theory, we will uncover the power of boring and some sneaky ways to profit from it.

The session will be accompanied by a special live performance by The Yawning Orchestra.

About Giorgi Avaliani

Giorgi divides his life between creatively directing campaigns, design, and digital work at Leavingstone, running a homemade Georgian vodka business, and being an undercover Elvis impersonator for hire. Joining the agency at ground zero as a copywriter, his versatile talents have fuelled the phenomenal transformation of a small Tbilisi-based agency into one of the largest local creative companies with more than 89 international awards to show for its international appetite. Giorgi’s vision and creative direction have brought home a couple of Cannes Lions among numerous trophies, a Gold Medal from Eurobest Young Creatives competition, and a series of Site of the Day honors for his digital work.

Giorgi is a part-time professor at Georgian Institute of Public Affairs, teaching how to craft Creative Digital Experiences. His MA in Political Science also comes handy when dissecting current culture as a guest speaker at local universities. Giorgi’s creative side projects include working as an Editor-in-Chief for a comedy newspaper Sarkoma, and making music under his hip-hop monicker Mama Gwantsa.
