About Christo Kaftandjiev
Christo Kaftandjiev is professor, Ph.D. and Doctor Habilis on advertising, semiotics and marketing communications in Faculty of Journalism, Sofia and in Tomsk University. He specialized in Holland (CITO Institute); UK (Westminster University); Ireland (Dublin Institute of Technology) and in Moscow (Moscow State University).
Kaftandjiev is vice dean of Faculty of Journalism, Sofia University, Bulgaria and Chair of Communication, PR and Advertising Department of Faculty.
At the moment Kaftandjiev is vice rector on international relationships in Kazakh Humanitarian Law Innovative University, Kazakhstan.
His courses are on general theory of advertising; intercultural aspects of marketing communications, packaging design, merchandising communications, digital marketing communications, creativity and advertising; communicative strategies of advertising; advertising campaigns; semiotics and advertising; visual communication and advertising; corporate architecture; integrated marketing communications; etc.
He lectures also specialized courses on marketing communications of different products and services – marketing communications of wines and spirits, of books, of cars, of food, of financial services; of tourism; of telecommunications; B2B marketing communications, etc.
All of his courses are prepared in English on multimedia format. They are highly visualized with many of the best world print ads; outdoor ads; commercials; events; part of films; etc. Some of the reasons for this are that he has extended and regularly updated data bases with thousands of ads, commercials and other marketing communications.
Christo is author of many scientific articles and 9 books on these topics - namely:
- “The Language of Advertising. Graphics and Text”;
- “Visual Communications”;
- “The Texts of Print Advertising”;
- “Harmony in Advertising Communication”;
- “The Images of Women in Advertising”;
- “Absolut Semiotics”;
- “Sex and Violence in Advertising”;
- “Heroes and Beauties in Advertising”;
- “Mythological Archetypes in Advertising”;
- “Integrated Marketing Communications”.
Seven of these books are published three and more times. His books “The Texts of Print Advertising”, “Harmony in Advertising Communication”, “Absolut Semiotics”, “Images of Women in Advertising”, “Sex and Violence in Advertising”, “Heroes and Beauties in Advertising” and “Mythological Archetypes in Advertising” are published abroad as well.
Christo is visiting professor and he reads regularly lectures in other countries as well – in Finland; Holland; Germany; Russia, Kazakhstan, Portugal, Mexico, Austria, Sweden; US, Slovenia; Croatia; Bosnia, Serbia, Monte Negro, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia , Estonia, UK, Ireland, Armenia, Italy, China, Belgium, Poland, etc.
He was speaker and sometimes keynote speaker in 3 world congresses of IAA (International Advertising Association) – in Mexico, Egypt and Lebanon; two world congresses of semiotics – in Germany and Mexico and in many seminars, advertising festivals, business seminars and specialized trade shows.
From 1997 he is honorary professor and he is awarded with academic world star of International Academy of the Authorised Education, US. He was elected at the same year in the International Board of Judges & Advisors in one of the most prestigious ad festivals - The New York Festivals.
He was member of the Board of Superbrands and Digital Communication Awards, Germany.
